WHY IT MATTERS
Single-use plastics are being produced in billions and often discarded each year in the form of shopping bags and other disposable items, thereby leaving a massive carbon footprint. Plastic bags are often made from fossil fuels and refining those fuels into plastics is an energy-intensive process that is driving up global emissions. How we calculate your emissions: 1.6kg CO2 per single-use plastic bag, 307 bags for every American per year x 1.6kg CO2= 507kg CO2 (see earthday.org for more info). We work with Sustainable Harvest International on various reforestation projects. Sustainable Harvest International is an environmental nonprofit with over 25 years of experience partnering with smallholder farmers to adopt regenerative practices that nourish people and the planet.
